EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers are above .500 again in varsity girls soccer. Tuesday’s 4-1 road win over Warrensburg put Excelsior Springs at 3-2 entering the Excelsior Springs Tournament, slated to begin Saturday. The girls will open against Cameron. Excelsior Springs was briefly above .500, opening with a 2-1 March 24 road win over Lincoln College Prep. But then, the girls fell in back-to-back games to Van Horn of Independence and Oak Grove. Excelsior Springs got back to .500 by defeating Center. Sophomore Bailey Carder scored an unassisted goal in the eighth minute to give the girls the lead in their season opener. Lincoln College Prep tied it in the 61st minute. Senior Kenzy Smith scored the game-winner in the 67th minute on an assist pass from sophomore Abby Rash.
