Tigers extend winning stretch to five games
Excelsior Springs has outdone itself this season in varsity boys soccer.With Monday’s home rout of Raytown South, the Tigers had won five straight entering a Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division meeting Wednesday with Kearney on the road – their longest winning streak this season. They opened by winning four straight.The latest winning streak included two wins last week. On Sept. 30, Excelsior Springs edged Independence-based Truman 4-3 at Tiger Stadium. The boys then cruised 7-2 Oct. 3 at Smithville.Excelsior Springs rallied for the win over Truman, as the Patriots took the opening lead in the fourth minute. The Tigers knotted it with an own goal by Truman.Senior Kolin Kincaid gave Excelsior Springs the lead in the 38th minute by finishing junior Jaxon Hellyer’s assist pass.
