Tigers go west for district tourney
Unlike their girls counterparts, the Excelsior Springs boys will hit the road to start the basketball postseason.The Tigers, who were 0-22 entering Wednesday’s regular-season road meeting with Oak Grove, will open Class 4 District 15 Tournament play at 7 p.m. March 3 against Kansas City Central at St. Pius X High School in Kansas City. The winner will play St. Pius in the semis of the singleelimination tournament at 7 p.m. March 5.Central is scoring an average of nearly 56 points per game, Missouri State High School Activities Association records state. The Blue Eagles, who finished the regular season 15-7, have won five straight.Excelsior Springs is averaging almost 38 points per game.Excelsior Springs, Central and St. Pius are among six schools in the boys portion of District 15 competition.
