A historic varsity girls tennis season is over for Excelsior Springs. The season ended with losses in individual sectionals, held Oct. 7 at Excelsior Springs; and a 5-3 team sectional dual loss to Chillicothe Oct. 10 at Chillicothe. “These girls have come a long way over a short amount of time,” coach Richie Marsh said. “I know some of these girls had hardly picked up a tennis racket before high school and for them to be able to accomplish what they did this year is quite the feat.” In individual sectionals, senior and District 14 singles champion Anna Selby dropped her sectional match 6-2, 6-1. District doubles champions Malaya Tedesco and Shelby Stodden, both sophomores, fell in the first round, 6-0, 6-0.
