Tigers impress Danneman at jamboree

Excelsior Springs varsity football coach Jake Danneman had reasons to be impressed when watching his Tigers scrimmage against Cameron and East Buchanan during an Aug. 23 preseason jamboree at Cameron.One reason was his team’s physicality. The Tigers were the most aggressive team of the three, according to Danneman.In addition, Excelsior Springs played fundamentality sound on defense, Danneman said. He also was particularly impressed with the performances of two players – Dawson Claypole at running back and junior Jameson Bright.“Jameson is one who pays attention to detail, does a lot of the little things right, and with more time in the weight room, we feel he can take big strides and help us out,” Danneman said.Something else impressed Danneman: The Tigers stayed healthy.Danneman called leaving the jamboree injury free “our biggest success,” given the broken leg a Cameron player suffer...
