Tigers look to resume winning ways in postseason

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers seek to get back to winning when postseason play begins next week in varsity girls soccer. Excelsior Springs went 3-4 to close the regular season. After falling 2-1 to William Chrisman of Independence April 23 to cap the North Kansas City Tournament, the Tigers lost a tough one to Savannah 2-1 April 25 at Savannah. The Tigers then won three straight and lost their last two. The winning streak started April 29 by edging visiting Cameron 2-1 in overtime. A 4-0 May 2 road win over Knob Noster followed. Sophomore Bailey Carder started the scoring against Knob Noster with an unassisted goal. Sophomore Abby Rash also scored an unassisted goal, followed by another goal with Carder assisting. Carder finished the scoring on an assist pass from Rash. Next, Excelsior Springs pulled out a 4-3 victory May 3 over visiting Clinton that was decided by shootout kicks.
