Tigers open homestand with win
Excelsior Springs is “trending in a good direction” in varsity baseball as April turns into May, according to coach Aaron Holst.
Indeed, the Tigers were 14-8 overall and had won four straight entering this week. Their winning streak included a 10-3 win over William Chrisman April 25 to start a threegame homestand.
“Some situational hitting things that we’ve been spending a lot of time with kind of paid off in two good innings tonight,” Holst said minutes after the victory.
Excelsior Springs pounded out 10 hits – situational or otherwise – to pull away from Chrisman. Senior Ryne Marcum led the Tigers offensively with three hits, including a double.
Marcum was among three Tigers with two or more hits. Kaelan Bedford went 2-for-3, with a walk. His stat line also included two runs scored.
Brody Querry went 2-for-2, with two walks. He also had two RBIs.
The Tigers followed their win over Chrisman by losing to Kearney 6-4 Monday. They were slated to finish their homestand Wednesday against Winneto…
