Excelsior Springs could soon get another crack at Kearney in varsity 11man football.With a win Friday on the road againstVan Horn in the Class 4 District 8 Tournament, the Tigers (2-7) would advance to face top-seeded and undefeated Kearney Nov. 8 in the district semifinals. It would be their second meeting in two weeks.The first meeting took place Oct. 25 at Tiger Stadium, with Kearney rumbling to a 56-0 victory. The Bulldogs (9-0), who are seeking their second straight Class 4 state title and fifth overall, took control with a 28-0 first quarter, led 49-0 at halftime and added seven points in the third quarter.Kearney piled up 458 yards of total offense and allowed only 50 yards of total offense in handing Excelsior Springs the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division loss.Quarterback Landon Marcum helped provide 37 of Excelsior Springs’ total yards.
