Tigers split four ballgames in packed week
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Last week, the Tigers continued their busy varsity baseball schedule, splitting four games.
For their first game, the Tigers resumed play in the Northland Tournament, traveling April 22 to Fort Osage and winning 8-7. The Tigers jumped ahead early, scoring two runs with two outs in the first inning and three runs on one hit in the second. They then tacked up their sixth run in the top of the third before Fort Osage got its first run in the bottom of the third.
The Tigers tacked on two insurance runs on one hit and two walks in the top of the sixth. The Indians fought their way back into it in the bottom of the sixth and seventh, taking advantage of errors and walks and hit batsmen for six runs. Sophomore pitcher Broc Dusek ended Fort Osage’s bid for a comeback victory by throwing out the potential tying run trying to steal home.
