Tigers stretch streak to five games, then fall to Cards
Excelsior Springs kept its winning streak going in varsity boys soccer with back-to-back wins last week – one of them an overtime thriller.
Kolin Kincaid helped the Tigers get the 2-1 overtime victory over St. Joseph Oct. 10 at Central, providing an assist and a goal. With Excelsior Springs trailing 1-0 after conceding a first-minute goal, sophomore Jake Zapata scored off of a pass from Kincaid to tie it. Kincaid, a sophomore, then scored the gamewinner off an assist from junior Mason Wartner.
“I am extremely proud of the grit shown by our boys through adversity,” coach Zac Ganzer said. “We were challenged to take the next step and there was toughness that came out tonight and I am impressed by the work the group put in tonight.”
