Varsity boys soccer team continues to post shutouts

Excelsior Springs continues to pile up the goals – and deny goals – in varsity boys soccer.The Tigers had posted five straight shutouts entering Thursday’s home meeting with Center, a Kansas City-based school. That stretch included two Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division games last week – a 5-0 win Oct. 14 at Grandview and a 9-0 Oct. 16 thumping of visiting Winnetonka.Jake Zapata’s finish of a pass from fellow senior Austin Collins in the 34th minute started the scoring against Grandview. Senior Kolin Kincaid’s penalty kick made it 2-0 in the 36th minute. Zapata’s unassisted goal in the 38th minute helped the Tigers lead 3-0 at halftime.Collins finished the scoring with goals in the 46th and 65th minutes.
