High heat, drop kicks, random observations and points that amuse are all part of the wide, wide world of sports at the community and national levels.Aug. 2 was a near-perfect day for me.That morning, newspaper colleagues Miranda Jamison (a.k.a., “MJ”) and Micah Dillman (a.k.a., “Micafer”), and I visited Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph. If you follow pro football, then you probably know that’s where the Kansas City Chiefs have held their annual summer training camp for more than a decade.
