On Oct. 4, the back nine of the Excelsior Springs Golf Course served as a cross country running course. That afternoon, the Tigers hosted their annual Excelsior Springs Invitational, with 24 high schools participating. Excelsior Springs finished ninth in the varsity boys team standings with 223 points. The top three boys teams were Chris Preparatory Academy with 37 points, Chillicothe with 49 points and Kansas City Lutheran with 102 points. Senior Gavin Wilmes paced the Excelsior Springs varsity boys, placing 21st in 20 minutes, 12.8 seconds. In other boys results, first-year high schoolers Liam Hedding finished 58th in 22:51.1, sophomore Silas O’Dell took 65th in 23:30.1, first-year high schooler William Tade placed 69th in 24:16.2 and senior Damien McDade finished 82nd in 26:04.2.
