A winning streak ended last week for Excelsior Springs in varsity volleyball – and a new losing skid began. The Tigers extended their winning streak to three matches by sweeping Raytown South 3-0 Oct.

An early lead slipped away from Excelsior Springs in the Tigers’ Week 6 homecoming loss to Raytown South in 11-man varsity football. After punting away their opening possession and forcing the Cardinals to punt, the Tigers (1-5 overall) staged a four-play, 22-yard scoring drive to take their lead.

Excelsior Springs has outdone itself this season in varsity boys soccer. With Monday’s home rout of Raytown South, the Tigers had won five straight entering a Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division meeting Wednesday with Kearney on the road – their longest winning streak this season.

Excelsior Springs is nearing a 20-win season in varsity softball. Following blowouts of Raytown South and Smithville early this week, the Tigers were 17-8 overall entering Wednesday’s meeting with Fort Osage in Independence.
