Boarding House District addresses area concerns

The Excelsior Springs Boarding House District recently discussed area residents’ concerns - with a particular focus on neighborhood crime. Excelsior Springs Police Lieutenant Ryan Dowdy, patrol division commander, explained most of the crime being committed in the Boarding House District - primarily multitenant lower-income housing - consists of theft, petty assault, drug use and vacant building break-ins.

Veteran partakes in Honor Flight

Longtime Excelsior Springs resident and veteran Barry Dale recently had the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C., through the Honor Flight Network of Kansas City free of charge. The Honor Flight Network, a nonprofit organization, works with independent hubs to provide American veterans an opportunity to be appreciated for serving their country by visiting the nation’s capital and touring national memorials commemorating their service.

ES softballers enter postseason; finish regular season 11-13

It’s postseason time for Excelsior Springs in varsity softball. At press time, the fourth-seeded Tigers were slated to open the Class 4 District 8 Tournament Thursday against fifthseeded, Independence-based William Chrisman at Miracle Field, with the winner to face the Kearney-Lincoln College Prep winner in the semifinals of the single-elimination tournament at 12:45 p.m.
