Stories of sacrifice, service and remembrance echoed through the Clay-Ray Veterans Memorial Day ceremony as veterans, families and community members gathered to honor those who lost their lives serving the nation.The ceremony featured prayers, patriotic music and reflections on military sacrifice. Speakers encouraged attendees to remember not only the fallen service members themselves, but also the families, friends and fellow veterans who continue carrying their memory forward.Veteran and Pastor Doug Richey opened the ceremony by describing Memorial Day as both a solemn and important time for communities to come together in remembrance.“We know today is a very special day, but that’s putting it mildly,” said Richey. “This is an important time for us as a community to come together and express our gratitude for the men and women who have paid the ultimate price for our freedoms and liberties as Americans.”He acknowledged the vet...
