EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Progress on apiary development is being made by KC Kosmic Bees on the old Hotel Castle Rock property, owner Ryan Radecki said. “Exciting news!” KC Kosmic Bees reported July 20. “The space bees are so close to finishing their intergalactic honey. In the next few weeks, we will be extracting this magical honey.” Radecki’s wife, Krissy Radecki, and her business partner have been working to develop the project since April, when the City Council approved a special use permit. “We’ve had the apiary up there for (more than) a month now,” he said. “They don’t have any honey yet because they’re still ramping up.” Work to provide infrastructure for the project on the wooded hillside had been hampered early on by heavy rains, Ryan Radecki said, and by people. “We’ve had a problem with vandalism,” he said. “Somebody came by and threw some paint on the (bee) boxes.” ...
