Excelsior Springs is looking for one piece of art to tell the community’s story on a national stage as America marks its 250th anniversary.

The city is participating in the Freedom 250 City Art Poster Project, a national initiative through the National Endowment for the Arts and U.S. Conference of Mayors, and is inviting artists with connections to Excelsior Springs to submit original artwork for consideration as the city’s official poster.

City Manager Melinda Mehaffy explained the Freedom 250 project comes as communities across the country consider ways they want to be represented during the national milestone.

“Excelsior Springs has a unique story and we saw this as an opportunity to share that story on a national platform,” said Mehaffy. “As our country celebrates its 250th anniversary, communities are being asked to reflect on who they are, where they came from and what makes them special.
