Speaker urges Memorial Day audience to live gallantly
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – State Rep. Doug Richey issued a few calls to action to those gathered Monday on the Clay and Ray Veterans Association grounds to observe Memorial Day.
He called the audience and himself to follow “a more noble path in this life.”
“We should pursue a more noble path as a people,” Richey said about midway through his keynote address. “We should pursue a more noble path as a community. We should pursue a more noble path as families. And certainly, we should pursue a more noble path as individuals because of the price that has been paid by men and women over the generations.”
By pursuing that path, Richey and the crowd “are properly remembering” the service members who died in combat to preserve the freedoms Americans enjoy, he said.
