Traveling Wall brings remembrance
Excelsior Springs came together before the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall to remember those who never returned from war and honor those who came home without the recognition they deserved.
Community members and veterans recently gathered at Piburn Field for a memorial ceremony honoring those who served during the Vietnam War and the men and women whose names are etched into the traveling Wall.
The Wall arrived in Excelsior Springs escorted by veterans with the Patriot Guard, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Excelsior Springs Police Department as residents lined the streets to watch the procession into town.
The ceremony began with the presentation of colors by the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Junior ROTC Honor Guard.
