Motorists report uptick of wrong-way drivers on 69

Drivers on U.S. Highway 69 are reporting an unusual abundance of “wrong-way” drivers. “We’ve had approximately seven to eight complaints along 69 Highway, and they ranged all the way from 69 and 33 (Highway) all the way to 69 and Vintage in Excelsior Springs,” Clay County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Devin Lambeth said. When asked about how many car accidents there had been on Highway 69, Lambeth said that there had been “no crashes involving a wrong-way driver … as far back as 2017.” “There were some folks who were saying there was a person that was killed at 69 and Rhodus, but we actually investigated that,” he said. “That was not a wrong-way driver.” When Lambeth started receiving complaints from concerned drivers, he opted to investigate “to see what we could do and what was the cause of it,” he said. “It’s been fairly recent that we have been seeing an influx in wrong-way driver...
