Class available for dementia care

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – There is an increasing need for information to help caregivers of dementia patients in our community, educator Sharon Senger stated. To help fulfill this need, a free support group will be offered for caregivers for eight to nine weeks.

PART I OF II EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Excelsior Springs Hospital Chief Executive Officer Kristen DeHart made a promise to city leaders when she presented the hospital’s annual report for 2021 with a slideshow during the May 16 City Council meeting at the Hall of Waters. “Next year, I will not have COVID slides,” DeHart said.

City council approves outdoor pool dome

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The outdoor pool at the Excelsior Springs Community Center will have a dome to allow swimming during inclement weather. Arizon Structures WorldWide LLC Arizon Structures WorldWide LLC will provide the air-supported dome for $394,538, as approved May 16 by the City Council at the Hall of Waters.
THE OUTSIDE POOL is proposed for the back of the community center.

Excelsior Springs council agrees to lease carts for golf course

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – New golf carts are expected at the golf course in roughly five to nine months. Shortly before the City Council approved an agreement May 16 at the Hall of Waters to lease a fleet of Yamaha gas-powered vehicles, Shane Gardner told city leaders the shipment from distributor Masek Golf Car Co.

Two join city’s Parks, Recreation Board

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Parks and Recreation Board has two new members. On May 16 at the Hall of Waters, the City Council approved Mayor Sharon Powell’s appointments of Sherri Branson-Hurt and retired Excelsior Springs High School coach Terri Irons to the board.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Community at Play, or CAP, hosted a “Cornhole Family Fun Day” on May 21. “The population of individuals with developmental disabilities was growing in Ray County, but the community connectedness and awareness was not,” Suzan Breen said.
