David Alexander

David Louis Alexander, 78, of Kenmore, Wash., passed away on May 25, 2023, into the loving arms of his savior, Lord Jesus Christ, surrounded by his family. David was born on April 12, 1945, to Paul Louis Alexander and Francis Lucille Wood in Excelsior Springs. He graduated in 1963 from Excelsior Springs High School and married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann King, on May 27 that same year.

He went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service in Kansas City, and then attended North Kansas City Cosmetology School and became a hairdresser.

They went on to have two beautiful daughters, Rhonda Michelle and LeAnn Alexander, and moved to Washington state, where David bought My Ladies & Gents Salon in Chehalis. After 10 years, he sold the salon and opened the deli in the Fullers Markets in Chehalis and Centralia, Wash.

David was a man of God and served as an elder and worship leader at Faith Community Church for 10 years. He loved to play the organ and the piano, and enjoyed Christian music.

In 1991, they moved to Bellevue, Wash., where he continued working in a deli. After joining The City Church, he began the food ministry, where he served as a chef and caterer until he retired in 2012.

David was a man of few words, but when he did speak, everyone listened. He lived his life with integrity, teaching God’s word and living by example. He was a loving and caring husband, and was devoted to Patricia for more than 60 years.

He was extremely talented and enjoyed many hobbies, including making one-of-a-kind antique lamps, collecting antiques and traveling. He also enjoyed tending his garden and nurturing his creative spirit. He loved to cook and share his food with his family. Everyone came to his house to eat his famous fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Francis; and later, his stepfather, Wayne Wilhite.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Ann; and daughters, Rhonda Pederson and LeAnn Alexander Tucker; his grandchildren, Jeremy Pederson, Laurie Pederson, Chad Pederson, Nicole Washington, Alexandria Moore and Hannah Tucker; as well as eight great-grandchildren, who called him “Papa.” His siblings, Shirley Mullikin, Maxine Lawrence, Judy Gorham, Becky Kelly, Marsha Clayton and Gary Wilhite, also survive.

Donations can be made in David’s honor to Evergreen Christian Church in Bothell, Wash.
