Big city newspapers all over the country have locked their doors and thrown away the key due to the digital age taking over locally-based print companies. As this news reaches every small town in America, it can strike fear in local journalists or those aspiring to take on the job in lieu of no money to be made. What I would like to get across is that local news outlets matter. We are just as much a part of the community as any other reputable news source. Sure, working independently with a small staff, we can’t cover everything in one day. It is true, however, that local news outlets try to cover what matters to those within the community. The local paper and printing press have one mission in mind and that is to report things that citizens want to see and hear about from the local government to the person that is proud of their community and is doing their best to succeed in life.
