This is a time to give thanks. • Thanks that 2020 is over. • Thanks that there were some things better in 2020 than in T 2019 for Ray and Clay countians, such as flood water drying up and, for most farmers, good harvests. • Thanks that few deaths occurred, for which law enforcers and the true advocates for peaceful social justice deserve credit, despite all of the fearmongering about Antifa and Proudboys, despite incendiary feelings arising out of police killings of unarmed Black men, despite criminals using peaceful protests as a place to hide while taking advantage of a bad situation to loot businesses and despite controversial actions to take down statues that glorified those who defended the institution of slavery – one of America’s saddest sagas – but who also represented history. • Thanks that worries about armed people showing up at polling places to “defend democracy” for “their side” did not come to fruition. • Thanks that non-stop political advertising at last has ended…
