ESHS club rollers make it to state
SPRINGFIELD – The Excelsior Springs club bowling team finally made its trip to state.
Consisting of Joshua Oldham, Cole Dickey, Olivia Smith, David Falconer, Colt Bowman and Brock Hurla, the team competed in the Missouri BPA high school state tournament May 28 at Andy B’s Bowl and Social. The group qualified last year, but the tournament was cancelled because of the COVID pandemic.
Excelsior Springs was among 23 teams that gathered at Andy B’s to compete for the state title. The six local rollers finished 18th with 4,242 points and won nine matches.
Jackson won the title with 5,424 points. Rounding out the top five were St. Joseph Central, Willard, Moberly and Ozark.
Other participating Kansas City metro area schools included Park Hill, Lee’s Summit West, Warrensburg and Lee’s Summit North.
Excelsior Springs qualified for state by taking second in Zone 4 competition.
