Excelsior Springs gets stingy on D in rout of Ruskin

Ruskin couldn’t outrun Excelsior Springs’ defense when the schools met Oct. 21 at Tiger Stadium in varsity 11man football. The Tigers allowed only 151 total yards of offense, limiting the Eagles to 3.2 yards per play as they posted a 41-14 Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division and Senior Night win. “We have struggled a bit this year containing teams with great speed, but tonight, we were able to keep all of their guys inside,” Excelsior Springs coach Mark Faubion said. As has been the case the past few weeks, Excelsior Springs’ offense kept rolling up yards and piling up points – the third straight week the Tigers have scored 30 points or more. Senior Lance Bown led the defense in keeping Ruskin in check with five tackles. Other contributors included sophomore defensive back Dawson Claypole with 3.5 tackles, and seniors Carson Ashley and Andrew DeOrnellis with three tackles each.
