Excelsior Springs girls hoopsters cap season with team banquet
On Sunday, Excelsior Springs officially ended its varsity and junior varsity (JV) girls basketball seasons.
That afternoon, the Tigers staged a banquet at the high school, with coach Justin Biermann handing out various awards. Kinley Rogers received the Newcomer of the Year Award. Lundyn Smith received the JV Player of the Year Award.
In other award news, Abby Rash was named Defensive Player of the Year. Baylee O’Dell was named Offensive Player of the Year. Alani Price was named Varsity Player of the Year. Alba Sanchez Campos received the Tiger Award.
O’Dell also was recognized for receiving honorable mention on the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division team.
The banquet capped a 5-21 varsity season, in which the Tigers played without a senior, with most of the game reps taken by juniors and first-year high schoolers. The season opened with back-to-back losses, with the Tiger...
