Excelsior Springs girls netters open 3-1
For the first time since 2015, Excelsior Springs has a winning record through four duals in varsity girls tennis.As of this writing, the Tigers were 3-1 with two duals pending this week – Wednesday at Belton and Thursday against visiting Lexington. Coincidentally, Excelsior Springs also started 2015 3-1, dropping the season opener with Liberty North and winning three straight, Missouri State High School Activities Association records state.The latest 3-1 start included a 2-1 opening week. That week started Sept. 3 with a 9-0 thumping of visiting Ruskin, followed by an 8-1 Sept. 4 road loss to Lafayette County of Higginsville and an 8-1 Sept. 5 home victory over Raytown.Seniors Shelby Stodden and Malaya Tedesco sparked the Tigers in their win over Ruskin, a Kansas City-based school, by taking the No. 1 doubles match 8-1.
