Tigers control Harrisonville rushing attack, get MRVC West win
HARRISONVILLE – The Excelsior Springs varsity football coaching staff knew containing Harrisonville’s running attack would be a key factor when the teams met Sept. 24.
The Wildcats entered the Missouri River Valley Conference West Division meeting at Harrisonville with a twoheaded monster of a rushing attack consisting of brothers Jace and Nathan Reynolds, who had gained more than 1,300 yards combined over the first four weeks of the season. But the Tigers contained the Reynolds brothers enough for a 35-26 victory.
Officially, Harrisonville tallied 299 yards rushing. Jace Reynolds led the way with 213 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.
“He is the type of kid who is going to get his yards, but we were able to limit him at important times, which allowed us to come away with a win,” Tigers coach Mark Faubion said.
