Tigers fall in 2OT, then rout Ruskin

For the second time in three games, the Tigers found themselves in a thriller in varsity girls soccer. On April 25, Excelsior Springs and visiting Oak Park went to overtime, with the Oakies winning 3-2 in double overtime and snapping Excelsior Springs’ three-game winning streak. The defeat came eight days after the Tigers’ 2-1 shootout win over Savannah, also at Excelsior Springs. “We have no reason to hang our heads about this loss,” coach Zac Ganzer said. “Late-season games are about learning in tense games and getting ready for districts, and we will be better from our effort.” Effort from junior Bailey Carder got the Tigers their first goal. Senior Lauren Mueller provided the assist. Abby Rash scored Excelsior Springs’ second goal, with Carder assisting.
