Some local wrestlers will test themselves this weekend against the state’s elite youth grapplers.Representing the Excelsior Springs Youth Wrestling Club (ESYWC), the youngsters will compete at the Missouri USA State Championship, slated to begin Friday for the girls and Saturday for the boys. The tournament will conclude Sunday at Wilson Logistic Arena in Springfield, USA Wrestling information states.The grapplers qualified for the tournament by placing in the top four of their respective weight and age divisions at District 2 competition, hosted recently by the ESYWC.The ESYWC is sending 23 wrestlers to state – four in the 8-and-under age group, two 10-and-under qualifiers, nine 12-and-under grapplers, and eight 14-and-under qualifiers.
