School board approves summer learning plans

EXCELSIOR – The school district has set summer instruction plans. Summer school Director Anneliese Tadlock and Aerin O’Dell, assistant superintendent for academic services, presented the learning plans in a memo and in a presentation to district leaders.

District aims $582,000 grant at behavior-oriented learning

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Assistant Superintendent Heather Gross is using a $582,000 grant the district received to address learning issues. “I’ve really challenged our principals to come up with some unique ways to be able to support our kids with social-emotional learning,” Gross told district leaders during the school board’s March meeting.

Community Bank announces changes in leadership

RICHMOND – Community Bank of Missouri announced Stephanie Landwehr has been named the bank’s president and chief operating officer. Landwehr began her banking career in Richmond in 1978 after graduating from the University of Missouri with a degree in accounting.

McGovern gives update on cemetery regs, city COVID data

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – New regulations for the two city cemeteries, Crown Hill and Hillcrest, are in effect, City Manager Molly McGovern told city leaders during a March 12 work session. In November, the City Council approved the initial reading of an ordinance revising some regulations for both cemeteries.

City hospital issues 536 vaccinations in two days

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The hospital “had a fabulous week,” CEO Kristen DeHart told city leaders during a City Council work session March 12. That week, the Excelsior Springs Hospital distributed 536 doses of COVID-19 vaccine “to community members” in two days – 267 doses March 9 and 269 doses March 10, DeHart reported.
