LIBERTY – Northland community coalitions in Clay, Ray and Platte counties have partnered with Parent Up KC to conduct the Meaningful Meals campaign. The campaign advises parents that unplugging tech and eating at least four family meals together a week can impact their children’s success potential positively.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Lauren Randolph, 19, standing 5 feet tall and weighing all of 100 pounds, with an elfish smile under her hard hat, said she joked about being a roofer during a class project at Excelsior Springs Job Corps.

TOGETHER with certifications and a job tip from Excelsior Springs Job Corps, Lauren Randolph, 19, is working on the new terminal roof at KCI. While at Job Corps and at work on this roof model, Randolph says she felt inspired to become a roofer.

These districts reported no contests: • Excelsior Springs – Ricky Strack and Troy Snelling seek the two seats; • Richmond – Jon Dana and newomer Wesley Maxwell are running for two seats; and • Orrick – Mandy Floyd and newcomer Holly Vasmer seek the two seats.

Week off from paying sales tax occurs April 19-25

RICHMOND – The Show-Me Green sales tax holiday – an optional break from collecting sales taxes on some items – will take place again this year, the City Council decided. The seven-day holiday takes place from April 19 through April 25.

Sheriff’s office identifies woman as homicide victim

EXCELSIOR SPRING – After finding a body Feb. 11, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday identified the victim as Alesha Jane Reade, 45, Independence.

Her death is not believed to have occurred where law enforcers found the body, Sheriff’s Capt. Robert Hays said.

“We don’t have a pure crime scene yet, so we’re assuming the body was probably placed there along the road in the wooded area afterward,” he said.

Dari B changes hands, remains ‘in the family’

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Tommy Carroll said he had sold an area landmark, Dari B, at Missouri Highway 10 near the border of Clay and Ray counties. Carroll said he had sold the ice cream stand to Jon Saura, his brother-in-law’s brother.
