Council fills vacancies on board

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Planning and Zoning Board has filled two vacancies. On June 21, the City Council approved the appointments of Sandy Barnes and Dustin Borchert.

Waterfest Weekend Cancelled

After months of preparation, Waterfest has been cancelled due to downtown Excelsior Springs floods from Thursday night and Friday morning thunderstorms. 

“Because of the flooding and the potential for future flooding this weekend, for the safety of the vendors and public, we have decided to cancel Waterfest Weekend,” said Brian Rice, Waterfest Chair.

The Excelsior Springs Downtown area was under water Friday morning, June 25, 2021. After overnight thunderstorms saturated the area, many downtown streets, parking lots and businesses were caught in the flash flooding. Look for more coverage of the event in this week's Excelsior Springs Standard.

Mo. auditor gives ‘good’ rating to Clay County sheriff

JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway on Tuesday released a report covering the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. The report is part of a comprehensive review of Clay County government initiated by the public through the petition audit process.

Fire department to carry vaccine to people in need

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS– The Excelsior Springs Fire Department is bringing COVID vaccinations to those who cannot get out for their shots. On June 7, the City Council approved a memorandum of understanding, or MOU, with the Clay County Public Health Center for the fire department to administer vaccinations to shut-ins.
