Boys place second; girls take fourth

Marques Shouse outran the competition at the Nick Sloop Invitational. Shouse, a first-year high schooler at Excelsior Springs, won the boys 100-meter dash at the April 28 track and field meet at Lawson, finishing in 12.03 seconds.

Fletcher wins three at I-70 championships

is racking up the wins as her high school track and field career concludes. Fletcher, who graduates this month from Orrick, pulled off a hat trick at I-70 Conference competition May 3 in Higginsville, hosted by Sweet Springs.

Collins punches ticket for state

Austin Collins’ high school boys tennis career might end the same weekend he’s scheduled to graduate from Excelsior Springs. Collins qualified for Class 1 state competition in singles by placing second in the singles and doubles portion of the Class 1 District 7 Tournament, held May 2 at Excelsior Springs.

Landon Biermann and his Excelsior Springs teammates were looking to keep their varsity boys golf season going Wednesday. The Tigers began their postseason that day by playing in the Class 3 District 4 Tournament at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond, hoping to qualify for state.

Fletcher, Floyd get wins for Orrick at Carrollton

CARROLLTON – Orrick senior Anela Fletcher was, admittedly, “a little surprised” at her finish in the girls long jump at the Bruce Finlayson Invitational. Fletcher’s best leap in the event at the April 25 varsity track and field competition at Carrollton was 4.7 meters.
