Biermann paces golfers in back-to-back contests

Landon Biermann led the way last week for Excelsior Springs in varsity boys golf. The senior was the Tigers’ top finisher at two competitions – an April 14 tournament in Smithville, hosted by Oak Park; and an April 17 home dual with Winnetonka.

Baseballers continue moving toward 20-win goal

Excelsior Springs continues closing in on another 20-win season in varsity baseball. The boys were 13-8 and had won three straight and six of seven entering Thursday’s road meeting with Belton.

Marcum opts to continue career at Ottawa University

Another four-year starter in varsity baseball at Excelsior Springs is taking his game to the next level. Ryne Marcum has opted to attend and play for Ottawa (Kan.) University, an NAIA-affiliated school.

Wright looks to continue gridiron career at Baker

The Baker University Wildcats will soon add an Excelsior Springs Tiger to their football roster. Senior Justin Wright recently signed his letter of intent to play for Baker, a private, Baldwin City, Kan.-based NAIA school.

ES wins three girls events at Kearney TF meet; Kincaid finishes second

Excelsior Springs juniors Kinley Rogers and Josie Casler fended off all challengers in a combined three events at last week’s Kearney Classic Invitational. Rogers won two events in the varsity girls portion of the April 11 track and field meet – the discus and shot put.
