A key defender of Excelsior Springs’ varsity boys soccer program plans to continue challenging attackers on the pitch after high school. Braedyn Sejkora, who’ll graduate Friday, has signed his letter of intent to play for Central Methodist University, a Fayette-based, NAIA school.

ES boys netters claim division title

The Excelsior Springs Tigers are Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division boys tennis champions. With a 7-2 win over Winnetonka and a 5-4 victory over Kearney, both on May 1 on the road, Excelsior Springs finished an undefeated Blue Division schedule to claim the title – the program’s first division title since returning to the Suburban Conference.

ES baseballers in driver’s seat for No. 1 district seed

The Excelsior Springs varsity baseball team appears to have the inside track for getting the top seed in the Class 4 District 13 Tournament. The guys were 12-13 overall entering Thursday’s home meeting with Park Hill, a Class 6, Kansas City-based school.

Schmidt leads Tigers to Senior Night win

The quartet of seniors on Excelsior Springs’ varsity boys golf team left their home course as winners. On April 23, the Tigers finished their home schedule with a 12-stroke dual victory over Cameron.

ES baseballers eye win No. 10

Excelsior Springs varsity baseball coach Aaron Holst and his Tigers are hoping to breathe easier this week.

The Tigers had nine wins entering the week, which began Monday with a 12-5 road loss to Kearney and continued Wednesday with a 3-0 home loss to Winnetonka. Weather permitting, they have three more opportunities to secure win No. 10 – Friday at Raytown, and a triangular Saturday in Sedalia with Camdenton and Smith-Cotton.

ES golfers win individual, best ball competitions

Excelsior Springs produced not one, not two, but three champions at last week’s Lafayette County Tournament. The April 17 competition at the Higginsville Golf & Country Club offered three formats – individual, best ball and scramble.
