Special Olympics event fosters diversity

Excelsior Springs has taken measures to promote community unity and foster appreciation for diversity. The Special Olympics Track and Field event was a remarkable display of community unity and commitment to inclusivity, brought to life through the collaborative efforts of the Excelsior Springs Community Center (ESCC) and Excelsior Springs High School’s (ESHS), Student Council (STUCO).

Schmidt ties for 17th

Jacob Schmidt nearly brought home a medal from the Class 4 state boys golf tournament. Schmidt, who graduated May 10 from Excelsior Springs High School, finished in a three-way tie for 17th out of a field of 90-plus golfers at the May 13-14 tournament at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau.

Wartner heads to Park U.

Mason Wartner is going from black and gold, the school colors of Excelsior Springs High School, to wine and canary yellow, the school colors of Park University. Wartner, who officially graduated high school May 10, has signed to play soccer at Park, an NAIA program.

Oak Grove ended Excelsior Springs’ latest winning streak Monday in varsity girls soccer – and Excelsior Springs’ season. The Tigers fell to Oak Grove at Boonville in Class 2 District 6 Tournament play.

Schmidt, Biermann qualify for Class 4 state tournament

Two Excelsior Springs golfers represented their high school at state competition this week. Senior Jacob Schmidt and junior Landon Biermann played in the Class 4 state boys tournament, held Monday and Tuesday at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau.

Rogers, James claim district titles

Kinley Rogers is eying another chance to represent Excelsior Springs in state track and field competition. Rogers will compete at the Class 4 Sectional 4 meet Saturday at William Chrisman High School in Independence.

ES baseballers nab top district seed
