PAT aids in early childhood education

Parents as Teachers (PAT) in Excelsior Springs allows legal guardians to connect with others in the community while receiving support and education for their child’s development. PAT coordinator Kathy Emery said PAT is for anyone pregnant or any parent or guardian of a child from birth to age five.

Allowing backyard chickens to be housed inside city limits was the topic of discussion during a community discussion at The Excelsior Springs listening post. Local resident Trevor Gritton presented the pros and cons of owning chickens in urban areas based on a person’s agricultural experience.

Local optometrist Remi Miljavic of the Excelsior Springs Family Vision Center wants the community to stay focused on vision safety in observance of Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month. “The most important thing I can tell anyone regarding eye health and safety is to not take vision for granted,” Miljavic said.
