Everyone deserves access to healthy food and recently, the Northland Health Alliance (NHA) partnered with the Platte County Health Department to discuss programs for people to receive nutritious foods in Clay County.

The Excelsior Springs City Council received an update on home repairs made for local residents by Northland Neighbors Inc. (NNI) during a recent meeting.

Excelsior Springs Substance Abuse-Free Environment (SAFE) coalition met recently to discuss their future plans. The guest speaker for the gathering was Dan Schmidt of the Penn State Evidence- based Prevention and Intervention support coalition check-up project.

The Clay County Sheriffs’ Office is hosting a free child safety seat installation and check event on Aug 18 from 2-4 p.m. at the Hillcrest Hope Thrift Store, located at 7 W.

CORNERSTONE ELEMENTARY: Jessica Broadbent, Cornerstone Elementary School’s new principal, has been a teacher, instructional coach and assistant principal. She has been with the Excelsior Springs School District for 13 years and said the city has a supportive community with amazing kids. “Our community rallies around us and supports everything we do,” Broadbent said. “I’m excited to move into this new role and highlight all the great things we don’t always see from the outside.”

Excelsior Springs officials released a traffic study conducted for Quik Trip (QT) in October 2022. “We require traffic studies when a project can impact the surrounding area,” said Melinda Mehaffy, Excelsior Springs Economic Development Director.

The Kansas City Royals’ new stadium is searching for a new location centered around the East Village in the downtown loop or North Kansas City. The North Kansas City location includes six blocks bound by Armor Road off north 15th Avenue on the south side and between Howell and Swift streets on the east and west side.

Noah Marker, once a young student in Excelsior Springs, grew to be a driven, well-rounded young man, achieving greatness and showing everyone what it means to have tiger pride. The son of Christy and Marty Marker, Noah passed away unexpectedly on July 17 at the age of 23, but his memory will remain within the community.
