The Excelsior Springs Fire Department will now be able to fund emergency preparedness operations thanks to an annual funding allowance from the Excelsior Springs Capital Improvement Board. The board also agreed to replenish the city’s building maintenance fund.

The Excelsior Springs School District (ESSD) reported a concerning incident which occurred at Excelsior Springs Middle School on Sept. 7 when it was reported a student was carrying a weapon.

Many new faces are now a part of various community positions as appointments were made at a recent City Council meeting. John McGovern, former police chief, was appointed to the Excelsior Springs Board of Zoning and Adjustments, replacing Ambrose Buckman.

The Excelsior Springs Police Department reported the following arrests handled recently by the department. Saturday, August 12 At 12:21 a.m., Leslie Dieball, 38, was arrested for failure to appear.
