Bye, bye, pesky ‘Sonic pothole’

Body
MoDOT WORKERS swooped in this week along West Jesse James Road to put a permanent end to what social media has coined the “Sonic Pothole.” The recurring problem, located in front of the Sonic restaurant, and its lesserknown sibling, the “Scooter’s Pothole,” both got serious attention from MoDOT as the two-day project concluded Wednesday morning. It was a joint effort of MoDOT and Excelsior Springs Public Works Department staff (who provided a roller). MoDOT crews began working Monday to drain and prep the roadway before filling the pothole. According to Edward Black, MoDOT maintenance supervisor, “I think we have won this battle, but only time will tell if we have won the war.”
