The Tigers closed the dual portion of their girls wrestling season with a thriller. Driven by open victories, Excelsior Springs edged Raytown South 28-27 Feb. 1 at Ray South. The Tigers received four forfeit wins. The Cardinals had only one.

Excelsior Springs went down to the wire with Marshall last week in girls wrestling. The Tigers edged the Owls 42-26 in the Jan.

Excelsior Springs had to settle for fourth place in the varsity boys basketball portion of last week’s Richmond Winter Classic. The local hoopsters went 1-2 for the tournament, falling 71-43 Jan.

Cooper Collins was the top dog – or rather, Tiger – for Excelsior Springs at the 51st Platte County Invitational. The first-year high schooler went 7-0 at the boys wrestling tournament, held Jan.

The Tigers stepped outside their division last week in varsity boys basketball. And for one game, they stepped outside of western Missouri.

Two rough quarters hurt the Tigers in their 59-28 Jan. 17 home loss to Oak Park.

A loss in the opening match couldn’t stop Excelsior Springs from cruising to a 54-18 Jan. 18 road victory over Grandview in girls wrestling.
