The Tigers have their first dual win this season in varsity girls tennis. Excelsior Springs got the “W” Sept.

Last week, the Tigers found themselves playing for a tournament championship in varsity boys soccer for the second time this season. Unlike the first time they played for a title, however, they had to settle for being runners-up.

The Tigers got their fill of varsity softball last week. The girls crammed in six games, including five weekend tournament games, going 2-4.

Both Excelsior Springs cross country teams brought home honors when they ran at the Marshall Invitational. Excelsior Springs won the girls portion of the Sept.

The Tigers are still seeking their first dual victory this varsity girls tennis season – or at least they were through Tuesday. Excelsior Springs was 0-3 entering duals Wednesday with visiting Oak Park of Kansas City and Thursday with Belton at Belton.

KANSAS CITY – Excelsior Springs already has a varsity boys soccer tournament title and the season is only roughly two weeks old. The Tigers won that title at the Winnetonka Tournament, held Aug.

RAYTOWN – The Tigers knew they would need to contain Raytown’s speed when the teams met Sept. 2 in varsity football at Ted Chitwood Stadium.

The Tigers started logging competitive miles last week in high school cross country. Excelsior Springs’ season kicked into gear with two meets – the Grain Valley Kickoff, featuring a 2-mile race, held Aug.

Watching her Tigers split last week’s games with two Independencebased schools made something clear to Excelsior Springs coach Megan Gilbertson about this varsity softball season. “We have to be able to focus on the fundamentals of fielding the softball and throwing it,” Gilbertson said.

BELTON – Excelsior Springs could move the football against Belton, but the Tigers couldn’t score. Or at least not often enough.
