Eden Village coming to Excelsior Springs

President of Eden Village Excelsior Springs, Kelly Anderson said, “We believe that our community should take care of our own neighbors experiencing homelessness, rather than leaving them to relocate to a metropolitan city to access housing services.” The Gathering Tree, a non-profit which partners in operation of Eden Village, boasts that 13 cities in 11 states are now licensed with the organization.

Gatsby Days held in Downtown Excelsior Springs

Excelsior Springs recently traveled back to the Jazz Age of the 1920s. Gatsby Days — a downtown celebration sharing culture, history, art and poetry — offered opportunities for the whole family to be involved in the art and history of the downtown historic region of Excelsior Springs. Vintage cars lined the parking loop in front of the Hall of Waters to showcase riding in style from the early 1900s through 1938.

Boys netters extend dual streak to three, then fall

Excelsior Springs’ longest winning streak this season in varsity boys tennis duals ended last week. Following an April 20 road win over Winnetonka, the Tigers picked up victories against Odessa April 24 and Fort Osage April 26, both at Excelsior Springs.

Tigers fall in 2OT, then rout Ruskin

For the second time in three games, the Tigers found themselves in a thriller in varsity girls soccer. On April 25, Excelsior Springs and visiting Oak Park went to overtime, with the Oakies winning 3-2 in double overtime and snapping Excelsior Springs’ three-game winning streak.

Gillispie released on recognizance

Gary W Gillispie II, who was being held on felony drug trafficking charges, has been released on his own recognizance (ROR) following a recent bond reduction hearing. Circuit Seven Judge Louis Angles approved the request made by public defender Kevin Garrison on Gillispie’s behalf.

Civil Air Patrol seeks recruits

The Excelsior Springs Civil Air Patrol (CAP), founded in 2016, recently held an open house for those interested in recruitment. “CAPs mission is supporting America’s communities with emergency response, diverse aviation, ground services, youth development and promotion of air, space and cyber power through aerospace education,” said Deputy Commander of Cadets Shelia Caven.
