The Silver Senior Prom Committee, in partnership with the Excelsior Springs High School Student Council, reveals details about their upcoming spring dance for those 55 and older, set for May 4. The prom, an idea cultivated by the Aging Well Task Force, will be hosted by the Excelsior Springs High School Student Council (STUCO) while utilizing connections throughout the community.

The Excelsior Springs community center hosted its first Youth Mental Health First Aid training course for adults to help break down communication barriers surrounding a mental health crisis. Kyria Hood, Youth and Family Coordinator and certified youth mental health first aid instructor, hosted the first-ever class, bringing her expertise.

Melinda Mehaffy, economic development director, explained the flats are currently $1.6 million over budget due to grading issues and the cost of retaining walls.
