Alum pursues coaching career
There are many coaches who go into the profession because of the impact their coaches had on them.
Scott O’Dell is one of those coaches.
O’Dell, a 1995 Excelsior Springs High School graduate, credits coach Vic Bonuchi and Bonuchi’s coaching staff with leading him to want to make a positive impact in people’s lives. O’Dell was an offensive and defensive lineman for Bonuchi’s 1994 Class 4A state championship football team, earning allconference honors on both sides of the ball.
After graduation, O’Dell continued his education and football career at William Jewell College before transferring to Central Missouri State University (now the University of Central Missouri) to finish his bachelor’s degree in sports science. He then earned his master’s degree in sports management from San Jose State University in California.
