The power of mentorship is coming to Excelsior Springs in a new way this fall as local organizations work together to bring Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Kansas City to the community. The evidence- based mentoring program has helped thousands of youth across the region build confidence, improve academic performance and form lasting connections with positive adult role models.From 5 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 12, the Excelsior Springs Community Center will host an informational dinner introducing BBBS to residents interested in learning more about becoming a mentor, known as a “Big.” The event, which includes dinner and a question-and-answer session with program representatives, is open to adults 21 and older who want to learn how to make a difference in the life of a young person.
