ES man charged with assault
An Excelsior Springs man has been arrested for two felony charges.Jeremy Claypole, 39, has been charged with second and third-degree assault.Claypole recently appeared before Eighth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Lori J. Baskins for an arraignment hearing. He entered a plea of not guilty and will appear again at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 15.After his hearing, Claypole posted a $5,000 bond and was released from Ray County Jail.According to the complaint filed by Ray County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Tara Medlin, the range of punishment for the class D felony of second-degree domestic assault is imprisonment in the custody of the Missouri Department of Corrections for a term not less than one year and not to exceed seven years; or by imprisonment for a special term not to exceed one year in the county jail or other authorized penal institution; or by a fine not to exceed $10,000; or by both imprisonment and a fine....
